We are Alejandro and Laura, an Argentine-Spanish couple who have been living in Spain for a long time. In 2022, together with Javier at the salon, we set up Bacacaya project that keeps us connected to our roots and who we are.
What is Bacacay and who are we?
A name is identity. When this project began, it was clear to us. How important it is to have a name that represents you and that, when you hear it, also sounds "at home".
"Bacacay" was a battle between Brazil and Argentina near the river of the same name.
In Uruguayan and Argentine historiography, the name of the toponym Bacacay or Bacacaí has been generalized, although Vacacaí is more correct since it is a Spanish compound word (cow) and Guarani (I fell) which can be translated as 'cow's horn' (being I fell 'horn'). In Brazil the spelling is maintained Vacacaí.
But above all, "Bacacay" is a street in Buenos Aires where we were happy. And we are transferring that happiness to what is now our home. Trying that all the good things that came from there, also arise in Alicante.
